Thaddeus E. Strom
Vice President for Congressional Relations

        Thad Strom joined Parry, Romani, DeConcini & Symms in February 2004 as Vice President, Congressional Relations after more than two decades of service on Capitol Hill.  Mr. Strom brings extensive knowledge of the issues and legislative process, which he acquired under the guidance of Senator Strom Thurmond, President pro Tempore of the United States Senate.

        Mr. Strom joined the firm after serving as a director with the American Group from 1997.   Prior to that, he served as Chief Counsel and Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Antitrust, Business Rights, and Competition, Committee on the Judiciary in the U.S. Senate; Senator Thurmond served as Chairman of the Subcommittee.  The Subcommittee conducted oversight of the Antitrust Division at the U.S. Department of Justice and considered many antitrust legislative initiatives.

        In addition, as Senator Thurmond's Chief Counsel, Mr. Strom was responsible for other Judiciary committee issues, including successful work on various intellectual property legislation, anti-crime bills, and judicial nominations.

        Mr. Strom also represented Senator Thurmond at weekly Republican leadership staff meetings in the Majority Leader's office to discuss implementation of the Republican agenda in the U.S. Senate.

        From 1991 to 1993, while Senator Thurmond was Ranking Member and Senior Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Mr. Strom served as the Chief Counsel and Staff Director to the Republican members.  In this capacity, he was the chief strategist and legislative advisor to the Republicans on all legislation referred to the committee.  Also, Mr. Strom was responsible for the organization and direction of Republican staff members on the Committee.

        Mr. Strom served as Chief of Staff to Senator Strom Thurmond from 1986 to 1988.  As Chief of Staff, Mr. Strom was responsible for formulating and directing office policy for Senator Thurmond in all areas of his U.S. Senate office.

        Mr. Strom received a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Clemson University, and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  He and his family reside in Washington, D.C.
